1984 Dodge Rampage Front Disc Brakes
There is not much out there on replacing the pads and rotors for the front brakes on the 1984 Dodge Rampage. (Let’s be honest there isn’t much out there on any type of repair on the Dodge Rampage…) so I figured it would be good to get a few pictures out there on what a freshly rebuilt front brakes looks like.
First off, here is what the front brakes started out like. The car only has 50K miles on it, so there is a small chance these are either the original brakes. They were mostly all in one piece however in the end one of the calipers was frozen.
From here, removal of the caliper is easy. Start by removing the one bolt that secures the caliper to the car
Once the bolt is removed, you can use a small pry bar or screw driver to remove the caliper.
The break pads will come with a set of retaining clips. There was not much documented on where these go, but best I can figure they go like this:
NOTE: The pads in this picture show the Driver side and Passenger side
Here is what they look like on the car:
Use a C clamp, or break caliper press tool to push the caliper piston back in and secure the caliper bolt with a torque wrench.
